lazy days part 1

obviously my first stop on my first day off was value village. at the last minute i decided to check the housewares and found these metal peacocks. can't decide what to use them for-necklace trees? trellis? wall hanging? we'll see.

also note new futon cover.

hyacinths. i can't for the life of me say that word out loud. my tongue trips on it every time.

where else would a cat want to lie on a sunday morning?

he was just sitting there like this.

magic tulips in the sun.

time offfffff

i am about to have a very tolerable work schedule (albeit temporarily) thanks to the amazingness that my luck is right now. i have a four-day weekend this weekend and the same next week (except with friday at work in the middle).

here is my list of things i want to do:

+do more deck work. love it. (paint table, get new chairs)
+investigate/complete worm composter.
+find a garden centre that's open. i'm ready! let me give you money!!
+poke around value village
+get a haircut
+have the first bbq of the season
+invent more cookies (make ice cream sandwiches with them?)

sounds like i'm set. i'm also going to relax a whole lot. there's a whole other list of all the kinds of relaxing i plan on doing. you know, bath relaxing, movie relaxing, craft relaxing etc. yes!

me and my baby

babies=baking

i elected myself in charge of baking cookies and cupcakes for my bff lauren's baby shower. luckily there were also several recipes for children in my trusty Joy of Cooking, so fitting!!

chocolate chip cookies, a classic.

is there anything better than the butter/sugar combination? the answer is no.

i used regular semi-sweet chocolate chips as well as baby hershey's kisses. this made for an extra chunky chocolate chip cookie. this is a substitution i highly recommend. do it.

in a disgusting twist of fate, i dropped an egg on the counter, and it broke. i flung it into the sink using a cloth, and discovered that the only thing worse than a raw egg on the counter is a raw egg in the drain. eww look at it staring up at me, perfectly nestled. so gross.

not gross: cookie dough.

also not gross: best chocolate chip cookies i have ever made.

chewy, chocolatey, and perfectly golden. get pregnant and i might make you some.

next up: peanut butter cookies.

WITH SMARTIES. yeah, get in there candy! join the party!!

as you can tell, my baking sheet is "well loved".

i will make these again. so good. so so good.
this concludes episode 1 of baking.
