soldiers:

i did not mean to take this picture of lauren's butt, but it looks kinda awesome SO IT STAYS!

just in case you needed to see more of me in a forest (you don't):

blue dot means you're going the right way. giant trees mean you're in magicland. these are all from my iphone so they're all a wee bit on the crap side. it's ok, you get the idea. nature and stuff.

we came upon a beautiful lookout. upon seeing it, we gathered on the rocks and settled in for a good old look-see. shirts came off, eyes twinkled.

sandwich time was had

this was making me a little nervous. that was a sheer cliff right there.

owen, please don't fall. my heart was skipping, i will admit it now.

just drops right off. as we were hanging around there, a group was coming out from the woods, with a 7 or 8 year old leading the way. the mom called "anything over there?" and the kid takes one look at the view and says "not really" and turns around. hilarious. yeah, nothing much to see.

a descent.

i made them do this. they were very obliging. it's important to sit on a big rock and have your picture taken once in a while.

these were our options:

the way to the parking lot looked like the bog of eternal stench, so we went the other way.

layla don't care.

it was lucky that we checked out the estate grounds because there happened to be the best swimming spot ever. after bumming around there for a bit we headed out of the woods into beaver territory. that was cool.
back at the ranch, the sun lazily settled on our tent

the dog watched her mom whittle a stick (multiple sticks)

the linens breezed breezily

the guitar sat around. i wish i'd played that guy more. i love me a guitar, but i'm too shy. regrets!

dinner was cooked

fire warmth was enjoyed

and water was collected.

the next day some of us headed out to stop by my cottage for a dip. that's owen and visnja behind us. HIII!!! FOLLOW US!

first though: ice cream.

bear claw

dock time was thoroughly enjoyed.

it was super hot, even though it doesn't look it.

we ventured into the woods to find the quartz fireplace.

also, a shack. you can't really go too far in any direction without running into one of these.

this flower looked perfect until the moment i snapped this and the wind blew it half closed. you only get one chance with me. no do-overs.

i could probably hang out in a forest for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy.

visnja showed us her frog-whispering abilities.

apparently you tickle their bellies and they just walk into your hand. it works. i saw it.
then we ate our leftovers on the porch (delicious) and headed for the city. it was a quick drive.

and then it was over.
