apparently this week is going to be full of rain. which is perfect, because it will match my mood. GREY. just kidding (sort of). i actually really like the rain. it's just so cozy. until, of course, you have to bike somewhere or get to work and not look like a drowned rat.

went to see TOTEM.

photo 3.JPG

there are two things i will say about it. the first is that it's amazing. you will sweat with nervousness, you will involuntarily say "holy shit" a few times, you will find your jaw on the floor. etc. i won't spoil it.

the second thing i will say (rant alert) is that i will never be comfortable with people dressed as other ethnicites. at one point there were definitely people wearing brown skin. SO WEIRD. uh, i can see your white fingers poking out of your fingerless african-guy costume. there are also hoop dancers wearing traditional-looking native dress (and they were fucking INCREDIBLE and probably my favourite part) but you're never really sure if they are actual (what does this mean, "actual"? i don't know) native hoop dancers or circus dancers that are "playing native" and you don't really know why it matters to you but it kind of does cause there's a funny feeling in your stomach about it. it reminded me of a thousand conversations/debates about "authenticity" that were had in various aboriginal studies classes.

uh, nevermind, his name is Nakotah LaRance and he's the 6 time world champion of hoop dancing. forget that last part i said.

skip to about 4 minutes to see the dancing unless you want an explanation about the symbolism of the circle (worth it)

OKAY but then later there is this other native-themed thing where a princess in a canoe is courted by a hero in another canoe and they have some kind of marriage dance on rollerskates on a GIANT DRUM.

roller skates

THEIR names are denise and massimo, and are from spain and italy, respectively. JUST SAYING. i ruin everything, i know. sorry.

photo 4.JPG

sunday was for the organization of nuts and seeds. save jars, put stuff in them, eat the stuff.

photo 2.JPG

and drink a giant beer.

photo 1.JPG

ok, see my torso? imagine that entire beer INSIDE of it. things got uncomfortable.

photo 5.JPG

of course i can't not finish a challenge, so i did it. one litre of beer, ladies and gentlemen.

then these noise-makers showed up. every year.

photo 2.JPG

after this i went home and passed out on the couch for an hour and a half. i woke up hungover. hungover on sunday at 6:30pm. weekend success!

Dude, that beer is HUGE. How flat and warm was it by the time you finished? Maybe I'm not giving you enough credit - I just know that by the time I got to the bottom of something that big, it'd be terrible.

P.S. your lace shirt is beautiful. Like your face. xo

it was on it's way to being flat, that's for sure, but i was rushing to finish so it wasn't tooooo bad!

and thanks about the shirt. you will be sad to know that i splashed bright red hot pepper sauce on it later that day. CURSES! cannot be trusted to wear white.
