unfortunately it's a weekend commitment, and you're going to miss something. like your bestie's birthday. wow this is a terrible picture of me. whatever.
i'm going to make it up to you, karen. just you wait. i don't know how, but i will. perhaps one day i will pop some wheelies with you on the back. i know you're keen on that. or maybe i'll write "happy birthday" with tire skid marks in the parking lot behind your place. it could be a number of things, so be prepared.
so anyway, i botched my test so i have to re-test. i don't feel bad about it, because it was a fluke. all day i'd been having trouble kicking my shifter into second, it would get stuck in neutral (although was impossible to get into neutral when i wanted to park it OF COURSE) or just not move at all even though i'd be wailing on it with the clutch in. so yeah, that happened during a one-shot timed test. i saved it and got into second but was 1.58 seconds over the allowable time so even though my technique was "perfect" i have to do it again. pretty annoying and they agreed on that point. i should have switched bikes but i was nervous to because the clutch is so different bike to bike and i got used to the one i was on. oh well, live and learn. whatever, i get to go ride again so that's cool. i'm trying to think of it like an extra private lesson that's included in the price.
this is my celebratory ice cream. it's s'more from the big chill. once you've had greg's ice cream's roasted marshmellow any other marshmellow-related ice cream is underwhelming. should have gone with mango.

i chased the sun up to the second level. trying to get a light base before i go to greece to help avoid a major burn. don't get me wrong, i'm going to be wearing spf 45 the whole time but still. i'm a brit.
a hand emerges from the grotto. that's the hot tub ledge, which overlooks the rest of the pool and backyard. that big flat stone is the home of a waterfall which cascades in front of the grotto so that you feel like you're in a secret cave. pretttttyyyy pretty good.
i went home and congratulated myself on a weekend well done with some cider on the deck.
congratulations, me. you did a great job of acquiring freckles and learning cool shit.
fireworks time at the pits!
there is one family that always brings the most insane fireworks.
they have to be professional fireworks, or at least really, really expensive ones. one misfired and went sideways and there were screams for about a minute while it went off. it was all different colours and was exploding out from under the canopy. i was really worried but slowly a cheer rose up so i figure no one was hurt.
firework pictures suck unless you have an awesome camera, which i don't. oh well.
