we'll laugh and toast to nothing and smash our empty glasses down

tuesday night i was standing outside talking to diane on the phone, and i heard some meows. what should i see but these two conspiring.

i loved the weather yesterday. storms are a favourite. got caught in the rain biking but didn't even really care until one of toronto's finest stopped me to tell me that they would be giving out $185 tickets to cyclists who don't come to a full stop at stop signs "starting tomorrow". i gave him a bit of attitude about how it's a waste of our city's resources etc. but stopped short of telling him i look forward to NOT GETTING CAUGHT. it actually makes me so angry to see a bunch of cops standing around trapping people. fish in a barrel. excuse me but could you please spend your time doing something more useful? like ticketing the neverending supply of cars that race up robert street while i'm trying to make a left onto bloor that either speed up (through a diagonal intersection, so dangerous) so i can't get out of the intersection OR they don't signal so i can't make a move at all. aren't those more dangerous? people speeding and being unpredictable in two-tonne death machines? AAAAAGH.

if a law makes sense and IS a law, enforce it all of the time. don't pick a week to "crack down" on people who are trying to get to and from work in an environmentally friendly and affordable manner, who, for the most part are very polite commuters. the only time i'm not polite is if my safety is at risk. i had to scream at a cab on monday because he WAS going to hit me. i also came within less than an inch of getting doored about a week ago (i felt it on me, even after swerving and leaning), i was shaking for an hour. where are THOSE tickets? if getting cyclists to follow the rules of the road is what they're after, maybe they should make the rules make more sense. if i came to a full stop at every stop sign on my way to work (there are one million of them) it would probably actually be faster to walk. i won't do it. i operate on the idaho stop law (allows cyclists to treat stop signs as yields), which has been in existence since 1982, because IDAHO of all places, figured this shit out long ago.

baby basil is growing and has some new baby friends (see them?). some of this is going in my mixed bbq veggie leftovers this afternoon. the pot is so small that i'm just going to constantly harvest it. fresh herbs at the office. YUM.

speaking of the office, i should probably be doing all of the million things i need to do for work before going but instead i am doing things like this:

pretty important that i leave behind a reminder of where i'm going or people might forget that I'M ON A BOAT. oh yeah, you can look forward to a million jokes of that nature by the way.

TONIGHT:

town

be there or be a rhombus.

First of all, that photo of two peeking cats is amazing.

Second, I hate how Toronto cops pick weeks/months to ticket cyclists. It's such a waste of time! I got a $200 ticket for treating a red light at a T intersection as a stop sign on College and I am a very conscientious biker. Go ticket some cars, jerks!

i ALWAYS think of that ticket you got when i want to go through a red light at a deserted intersection. and then i don't do it. ok, sometimes i do on T intersections, but i check for cops first.

YEAH stupid jerks. they should ticket themselves for being such jerks.
