alright so last week i somehow deleted my AMAZING bread update post but because i am an internet wizard, i saved it from the vault. enjoy.
last, last thursday a bunch of us went to 1st thursdays at the AGO. as usual, it was a good time. i'm excited for the next one.
here are some fake nails with eyelashes on them. these turn my stomach in just the right way.

i got a pocket portrait done by the ever-lovely Esther Simmonds-MacAdam. check her out if you like good things.

owen and visnja looking very smart indeed

this is not a great photo. meh we were busy having fun.

afterwards we went to yakitori bar. not on purpose, but it was open and it was the coldest night of the year thus far.
would you like some braised pork butt?

i would not. i can confidently say that i will never eat pork again in my life. EVER. one reason is that whether it's 39 degrees with the humidex or -39 with the wind chill they cram these sweet souls into death trucks where they suffer horribly for hours and hours. yes, pigs, like humans, suffer frost bite. they get frozen to the floor of the trucks and are unable to move. they are smart enough to know where they are going. enjoy your braised torture, side of kimchi. MOVING ON.
this otherwise fine establishment serves Mega Mugs of beer. they are pretty big.

one litre. that's my rice bowl.

and then visnja explained the doge meme to sarah and the internet collapsed.

"such, very, much, wow" "uh."

meanwhile kristin, the girl of the hour, concentrated on her mega mug.

kristin. we will miss you so much. you can always come back. PLEASE BE SURE TO COME BACK i know how enticing the mountains can be. but you will always have a home here, even if it's just my couch.
i mean, look how great this city is. people just leave their unfinished bottles of wine cradled in lawn statues in case you run out! extra chilled. maybe that's not wine. anyway.

ok, so here's a washroom.

here is another washroom. winter selfie.

i'm embarking on a project whereby i'm paring down my recipe collection. it currently lives in a photo album. clippings, print-outs etc. i'm pulling out all the ones that are tried and true family recipes, putting them on index cards, and putting them into a very sweet little recipe box. the rest i could find if i needed to. that's what pinterest is for.

that's my grandmother's blueberry cake. it's amazing. hence the three hearts. i love baking! had a baking date on sunday.
she has found and claimed the back of the couch. very cozy.

even the back of my toilet is cozy. and dramatic, it would appear.

before bed bathroom selfie #feministselfie

still life: bathroom shelf. complete with wine.
this happened. the polar vortex got to everyone.

she never, ever under-covers cuddles. cutest.

this also happened: eggplant involtini. roast thin slices of eggplant (instead of frying). roll them around a mixture of (light) ricotta, lemon zest, lemon juice, fresh thyme and whole wheat bread crumbs. stick em in a baking dish (used my cast iron) on a thin layer of tomato sauce. garnish with fresh parmesan.

it met with rave reviews. eat it with some kale (she said, every day).
