if you are in the neighbourhood, check out THIS exhibit, it's on at my work for the contact photo fest. they are doing tours for high school kids, and had an old camera, similar to what the photographer would have used. it was amazing to see something so old, and imagine how knowledgeable one would have to have been to use it. she used to bury jars of the developing solution (that she would mix herself) so that it wouldn't be destroyed by the nazis. this woman joined up with the partisan fighters during the holocaust, and was the only woman in the groups she would travel with. she lugged her photo equipment around everywhere, through the snow, in the woods. in a leopard fur coat. what a tenacious woman. i highly recommend going to it, the information that accompanies the photos is just mind blowing.
