round up

this is my grandma showing me how to do one of those things where you weave the yarn in the plastic square grid. i have no idea what those are called, but clearly this picture is capturing a moment of realization about the potential of crafts. "so...you can take two things that are totally banal, and turn them into something that is awesome? hm." also, i wore turtlenecks for approximately 4 years straight.

behind me is the wall of shame/pride. you can see my grad portrait, baby portraits of my mom and uncles, and allll kinds of other stuff. including me with short blond hair at the hill holding a snowboard. yeeeah, shred it guy.

this is a photo of my great-grandparents canoeing in the lake in the 1920's. that's how long this property has been in the family. well, longer actually. you can imagine how i feel about the pending sale of it. it's not even something i can talk about, it hurts too much.

thanks for the name, Elaine. my dad wanted to name me Daisy or Athena but they decided on Sarah (like every other parent of a newborn girl at the time) and Elaine was a given. i think either alternative would have been swell. maybe i'll name a girl Daisy, yeah?
