falling

photo 5.JPG

this is my favourite fall tree. you can see why.

really, there are two of them, but one always goes before the other. they're so beautiful, and i can see them from my balcony.

i love when trees are in the in-between. did you know that it's not that the leaves "turn" or change, rather that they lose their green-ness and you see what was in them all along. heavy.

i went for a run yesterday, it was way more successful than my attempt on sunday.

i hit 6K and didn't have to walk, not once. leg is completely better! it's amazing what two days can do. back to they gym for me today.

it's a good thing too, because my fitness plan of "not working out at all" and "eating everything i want, all the time" was starting to backfire, although it took a surprisingly long time for me to notice any difference.

leaves. crunch crunch. the fall is my favourite time to run. it's so nice to be outside, weaving through my neighbourhood and keeping track of which trees are where in their journey to being naked.

i think of a lecture on karma from one of my religion classes. she explained it as a good habit, with the metaphor of a wheelbarrow that you have to push somewhere. the first time is difficult, but each time it gets easier because you've made the rut. the rut IS the habit, and the thing that helps you get there. when i run, i am making a rut through my city and myself. i love it.
